Grooved Plywood Siding
for those off the wall patterns!

Are you trying to match plywood siding on your home?
Many homes today have grooved plywood siding that is no longer produced. We specialize in matching these discontinued patterns. We custom groove plywood siding. The problem is that these patterns have unique designs that are difficult to match. Both the size of the groove and the spacing between the grooves are what make each one unique.

As a homeowner, contractor, or architect, conducting a remodel or replacing dry rot, having plywood siding that matches your original pattern is crucial to a successful project. That's where we come in.

We have the ability to duplicate many of the old grooved plywood patterns.  The common patterns today are 4" on center and 8" on center with a 3/8" groove width.  These patterns are available in local lumber yards, but many other patterns are not available. If you own an Eichler Home please click here and for our Eichler Siding Web-site.

We Can Ship Standard Patterns as Well
We have learned over the years that in some areas of the United States, certain standard plywood groove patterns are not available like they are on the west coast (we are located in Northern California).  Click here for more information on standard patterns. Many lumber yards and plywood supply houses are unable or unwilling to ship plywood in relatively small quantities.  But we do!

We've Got Solutions for Those Hard to Find Patterns
If you are looking for a pattern with a groove 6" on center, or 2" on center, we can provide these hard to find examples. We can also vary the width of the groove itself, making it as narrow as 1/8" or as wide as 1". Another pattern we make is a repeating pattern of 4" on center, 4" on center, 12" on center, followed by another 4" on center groove.

We can also create other custom grooved patterns.  Just give us a call and we will be happy to let you know if we can help.  We accept orders as small as one sheet up to 100 or more.

We also have a very unique pattern called Plank-Tex (or Planktex). Plank-Tex was manufactured by U.S. Plywood from the 50's through the 70's.  The unique aspect of this design is that it has a texture cut into the plywood that is a circular sawn pattern (or swirl pattern) along with an 8" on center groove.  Plank-Tex, when nailed up, appears to be 8" boards run through a buzz saw, hiding the fact that it is actually a grooved plywood siding. It really looks good!

We've Been Doing this for a While
Over eighteen years ago Jeff Nichols was asked by a homeowner if he could replace some of the grooved plywood siding on a remodel job. He took the measurements and went down to the local lumber yard. It was then that he discovered what many homeowners and contractors had already learned, that the siding was no longer available.

Undaunted, he decided to hand mill the sheets himself. Needless to say, it took considerable time to mill the seven sheets required. However, the proverbial wheels started to turn. Within a few weeks, he realized that he could help others with the same problem. Since then, we have expanded our line of patterns and continually match new ones.

Do it Right the First Time
Using our siding will preserve the value of your home. Real Estate agents tell us that mismatched siding results in a loss of resale value. We have seen all kinds of temporary fixes from siding that does not match. In the long run, we have found that you will be much happier spending the time and effort required to use the correct siding that matches, rather than taking a short cut you’ll regret later.
